I was helping out as Camera Assistant on the set of “Pawprints” by Glasgow-based band Tango In The Attic last weekend, co-directed by Scott Davidson and Matt Cameron, and shot by Ian Forbes. It was a great out of the way location, and a lot of fun. Very excited to see how the video turns out! (And good luck to Tango — they’re in America getting ready to play SXSW this year.)
It’s been a while since I’ve posted any “I’m On Fire” updates, but here’s a big one: a good few months ago I handed the rough footage off to a very talented editor with some free time on her hands, and I tried to forgot all about it while I worked on other projects*. Well, now the picture has been locked, it has a new title (“Hurricane Emma”), and it’s off to Sundance. The next step: find a locally-based sound designer and color correction expert to give it a brush up, and fine-tune the soundtrack and call it a day.
I’m very excited about this new version — the pacing and shot selection is much stronger, the relationships between the characters are much clearer, and the climax hasn’t lost any of it’s emotional punch. It’s been a really long process with a lot of hiccups, but I’m incredibly proud of what we accomplished, and I’m looking forward to getting “Hurricane Emma” out to as many festivals as I can.
A big thank you for everyone who has helped on it, and for all of you who have waited so long to get your final DVD– I promise, I haven’t forgottent’ll get to you, someday. Below is the rough version of the poster I whipped up the other morning. More updates to come soon, I hope…
* And got married, and moved out of country…
Just wrapped up recording sound on my first non US-based production, a short film called “Outland” shot near Dundee, Scotland. Directed by Adina Istrate and starring Anthony Green. It was a fun production with a great cast and crew — half Dundee locals, half Londoners — and I look forward to seeing (and hearing) the final version.
And now I’ve got to get back to that Buskers + Lou rough cut…
I have a new feature film project underway. This one, called “The Buskers & Lou”, will begin production in about a month. For more information, take a look at the movie’s blog. There is also a donation drive underway, if you like what we’re up to and you feel like pitching in to help get the movie made.
Here’s the updated promo for our docu-ality series “Last Chance Garage” that we shot here in Portland. I directed it, Stephen Kurowski shot it, Marina Tait recorded sound, and Marina and SteveĀ edited it, and it stars the multi-talented Rick Maylender. Someday maybe we’ll add some flashy graphics and some music cues. We’re hoping to start shopping it around to see if we can find a production company interested in taking a stab at shooting a pilot.
Here is a promo for a reality docu-series I shot last week up here in Portland with some talented friends of mine — Marina Tait and Steve Kurowski — called “Last Chance Garage”. We shot and edited it together in an afternoon, so it’s pretty rough, but we’re working on a snazzier version that should be available for viewing in a couple weeks, and then we’re going to shop it around and see what happens.
